Photo downloads and watermark

• –Download all — the whole gallery as a single ZIP.
• –Download “Folder name” — if the gallery has folders, the client can download just one of them.
• –Download photo — a single file, from the enlarged photo view.

We build the ZIP on the fly, so with a big wedding the download starts straight away but takes a few minutes. The client sees a request not to close the tab. Every download goes into the History (Historia) tab along with the file name. When a client says “I didn’t get anything”, you have an answer, not a hunch.

In Settings (Ustawienia) you choose what the client gets:

• –Full resolution — exactly the files you uploaded. For printing and archiving.
• –Web size — smaller JPEGs. Fine for phones, Instagram and screens. Full resolution stays with you, e.g. if you sell prints.

You can also turn downloads off completely. Useful for a selection gallery: the client looks at previews but can’t grab files before editing.

We place the watermark diagonally on thumbnails and previews. It never goes on the original. By default it’s your studio name, but you can enter your own text. Changing the text reprocesses the previews, so you may see the old ones for a moment.

No browser can block screenshots. A site that promises it can isn’t telling the truth. A watermark won’t stop a screenshot, but it makes that screenshot useless.

There’s one combination of settings that turns downloads off by itself: watermark + web size. The web-size file is the same preview the client sees in the gallery — with the watermark burned in. We don’t want to hand it over as a finished photo, because the client would post a frame with text across the middle on Instagram.

The dashboard warns you about this in the Settings tab. You have two ways out:

• –turn the watermark off when you deliver finished work,
• –or keep the watermark and set full resolution — the original has no watermark.
