Uploading photos

Which files we accept, what to do with iPhone photos and how to move a gallery over from Pixieset or Photonesto.

Updated:

Which files we accept

  • JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF.
  • Up to 200 MB per file.
  • RAW files (NEF, CR3, ARW) won’t go through — the gallery is for finished photos you deliver, not for negatives.

You upload in the Photos (Zdjęcia) tab: drag files into the area, or click it and pick them from your drive. You can add several hundred photos at once. We send them three at a time, straight to storage.

After upload, each photo goes through a short processing step: we create a thumbnail and a preview, and add the watermark to them if it’s switched on. While that happens, the file shows “Processing…”.

HEIC photos from an iPhone

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. We don’t accept that format — most of your clients’ browsers couldn’t display it anyway. Those files stay in the list with a message saying they need to be exported.

The easiest ways to get JPEGs:

  • On a Mac: select the photos in the Photos app, choose File → Export → Export Photos and set Kind to JPEG.
  • In Lightroom: pick JPEG as the export format — same as for any other shoot.
  • On an iPhone, for the future: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. New photos will be JPEG from the start.

Moving over from Pixieset or Photonesto

If your galleries live with another provider, you don’t need to unzip them or upload folder by folder.

  1. 1. Download the gallery as a ZIP from your current service.
  2. 2. Create a new gallery in SilverAlbum and open the Photos (Zdjęcia) tab.
  3. 3. Drag the ZIP file into the upload area.
  4. 4. Wait until “Import finished” appears below the area. Don’t close the tab in the meantime.

We unpack the archive in your browser, a dozen or so photos at a time, so even a 6 GB wedding won’t choke your computer. Our server never receives the ZIP itself — only the photos, one after another.

Folders in the archive become gallery folders. Your client sees them as tabs, e.g. “Getting ready”, “Ceremony”, “Reception”, and can download each one separately. More deeply nested folders are merged into their top-level folder. We skip Mac system files (__MACOSX, files starting with a dot), and we count and report any HEIC files in the archive.

When an upload is interrupted

Each file gets three attempts. If the connection drops for a moment, we retry on our own. If something still fails, the file stays in the list with the reason, and a Retry failed (Ponów nieudane) button appears above the list. Click it — we’ll send only what’s missing.

  • A closed tab or a sleeping laptop stops the queue. Your browser will ask whether you really want to leave. When you’re back, add the missing files again — the ones that made it are already in the gallery.
  • “Not enough space” means the files won’t fit in your plan. Free up some space or buy a 10 GB add-on in the Account and billing tab.
  • “Unsupported format” and files over 200 MB won’t go through on retry. Export them again.
  • Failed processing shows in red above the photo grid. You can delete that file from the grid — its original counts towards your plan too.
