How to open a gallery from your photographer

A short guide for clients: opening the gallery, downloading photos to your phone and choosing photos for editing.

Updated:

Opening the gallery

You don’t need to create an account or install an app.

  1. 1. Click the link from your photographer, or scan the QR code with your phone’s camera.
  2. 2. Enter the password from your photographer’s message. It’s case-sensitive.
  3. 3. That’s it. On this device you won’t need to enter the password again for 30 days.

Password not working? Check you haven’t pasted it with a space at the end. After a few failed attempts, the gallery will ask you to wait a moment.

Downloading to your phone

If your photographer has turned on downloads, you’ll see a Download all button, and Download photo on every enlarged photo.

  • A single photo: open it and tap Download photo. On an iPhone, the file goes to the Files app, in the Downloads folder. From there, tap Share → Save Image to have it in Photos. On Android, the photo appears in Downloads and in your Gallery.
  • The whole gallery: this is one large ZIP file. It’s easier to download on a computer. A phone can manage too, but it takes more space and time. Don’t close the tab while the download is running.

Choosing photos for editing

If your photographer has asked you to choose photos:

  1. 1. Tap the heart on each photo you want edited.
  2. 2. The first time, enter your email address. That way your photographer knows whose selection it is, and you can finish on another device.
  3. 3. You can add a note to a selected photo, e.g. “black and white” or “for the album”.
  4. 4. When you’re done, tap Send selection. Once it’s sent, you can’t change it yourself — if something needs fixing, message your photographer and they’ll reopen it.

Your selection saves as you go. You can stop and come back later.

The gallery has expired or isn’t working

Galleries are only published for a limited time. For the last 30 days you’ll see a countdown in the gallery. That’s the time to download the photos to your own drive. If the gallery has already expired, message your photographer — they can restore it in one click.

For questions about your photos, contact your photographer. SilverAlbum stores the gallery on their behalf — we don’t know the password and can’t restore the gallery for them.
